Alexander on online sales tax: "It's a loophole that prefers some taxpayers over other taxpayers."

Lamar Alexander's Senate Member Office (R-TN) posted a Video on December 8, 2011 | 4:43 pm - Original Item - Comments (View)
On the Senate floor today, US Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) discussed bipartisan legislation he recently introduced with Sens. Enzi (R-Wyo.) and Durbin (D-Ill.) that would close what Alexander calls "the online sales tax loophole." In the speech, he discusses a letter he received from Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour supporting the legislation, as well as a recent study done by the conservative Hudson Institute that found "that the [online] sales tax loophole is equivalent to a subsidy, distorting the free market by providing an incentive for one form of economic activity over another."
